About trip

island peak
Nepal ‘s  most popular  trekking peak Island Peak is also known as Imja Tse Peak. Adventure seekers combine Everest Base camp trek with Island peak climbing. In Everest base camp  trekking  route, there is a place named Dingboche . One route follows Everest base camp & another follows Island Peak (6,189m). Imja Tse  Peak is situated in an island of glacier so it is also called Island peak.
Island peak provides an excellent opportunity to go high, but the real climbing portion of the trip is just a few hours of walking roped up on snow. Enjoying Everest base camp trek or Gokyo-Chola pass &  Everest Base camp trek prior to climbing Island Peak is recommended for acclimatization & to make trip more enjoyable. After completing Base camp of Everest & Kalapathar peak(5545m) we descend to Dingboche & follow the trail to Island Peak base camp beyond Chukung.
The height of Island Peak base camp is 5,100 meters/16,700 feet. Ascending uphill on a path over slabs and boulders for about two hours, high camp (5,500 meters/18,000 feet) of Island peak is reached.
Summit to Island peak generally starts in early  morning. Climbers take out ice-axe and put on crampons for the final few hours of walking roped-up on the snow slopes to the summit. We have to cross a large snow plateau climbing, a 34 degree headwall on snow using fixed ropes. We arrive the summit shoulder and climb the final fifteen meters to the summit using ropes. From the summit of Imja Tse, stunning views of Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m) ,Makalu (8475m) ,Baruntse and Amadablam can be enjoyed.
The common route to climb Island Peak is South East Flank & South-West Ridge. Normally  the base camp  for climbing Island peak is set at Pareshaya Gyab (5,087m), between Imja Tse and the lateral moraine of the Imja Glacier. Some experienced & fit climber complete the summit & return in same day from Base camp However, large number of the climbers prefer alpine style camping at high camp which adds the enjoyment of climbing and also helps a safe climbing. Organizing Island peak with Cozy trek is most preferred. Cozy Trek’s schedule allows enough time for acclimatization, training, practice and rest. Our expedition to Island peak is cautious and careful, with excellent & expert  leadership, organization, Sherpa climbers, cooks and staffs, tasty food, branded equipment, a full dinning and sleeping tents in base camp and high camp. Cozy Trek(P) Ltd  teach beginners  everything they need to know in special training sessions in base camp and the few days of climbing are mainly steep walking.
Cozy Trek’s climbing guide and sherpas will be fixing the route, set up the base camp & high camps and carry the equipment. Cozy Trek provides excellent Sherpa Guides who have deep knowledge of the great trek to Island Peak and the villages we will be visiting because those Sherpa guides home area is Everest Region. They born in this land, grew up on farms there, have family and friends in areas we will pass through, making our visit different of the usual tourist experience and more involved with the real and virgin culture of the Khumbu Valley.
